In 2017, after gaining 90lbs in 1 year, I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, which is an autoimmune disease affecting my thyroid, which affects my whole metabolism. Now at 245lbs, I found myself struggling with anxiety and insomnia, even wearing a CPAP. I took up to 9 medicines regularly, and I was visiting up to 6 different specialists a month. However, after 4 years of following a keto diet, I've lost 105lbs, and stopped taking 6 of the 9 medicines. The improvement in my anxiety levels and sleep patterns has been remarkable, and I no longer wear a CPAP at night.
Losing 105lbs was a major achievement, and getting off most of my medications while reducing doctor visits was truly impressive. While that alone sounds great, my dedication to a keto lifestyle has brought about numerous benefits beyond weight loss and improved health.
